EASTer Goodies by minami63 EASTer Goodies by minami63
An origami bunny folded from mulberry paper watches over his lacquer tray of brightly colored chiyogami eggs. He's just waiting for us to look the other away so he can sneak away and hide them! I found the pattern for the bunny on the 'Net. The instructions for the eggs came from one of my Mom's old Sunset magazines, but DIY Network has something very similar. This is my entry for the Crafted Eastertide Contest.

 Thank you! I found those little grass pods at a furniture store! They were being used as fake grass in silk plants and I asked where they'd been purchased from. No one could remember where they'd bought the pods, but since they had zillions around the store, they offered to sell me a few! I think they're cool!

They are cool! And I can't believe it they didn't give them to you for free (since they had a lot of them).
Usually these things are bought in special stores that provide things to arrange window shops with. I have some old catalogues with the merchandise and WOW.. I'd have like half of the things :D They even have furniture and it's just awsome.... sorry... managed to get sidetracked

 You sound like me! I get really excited when I get my hands on catalogs with old Japanese ceramics or lacquerware. Every once in a while you'll see a piece from my collection sneak into one of my deviations, too. I didn't mind paying for the pods, since they didn't charge me very much and I'm sure they'll get a lot of use.

You're really close... they're called washi eggs after the name of the paper you use! Thank you for the compliment, too! :sushi:

Are the seasons in Hawaii the same as in Europe? It's windy over here too... I'm just thinking the weather is starting to warm up.

I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds like it. We've just started Spring, so it's starting to get humid and windy.

Hi, hon... I'm a little sad today. My favorite betta died last night. He was almost 2 years old and had been sick for nearly six months, so it wasn't a surprise, but I still miss him a lot. Other than that, I'm okay, just busy with work and stuff. How's it going with you?

I'm lucky that my craft store brings in really pretty origami and chiyogami papers, so I buy lots when they go on sale. Thanks!

What made it even worse was that I couldn't bury him right away, so I wrapped him in a wet paper towel and put him in my fridge, so he wouldn't start decomposing before I could bury him. When I got home from work last night, I took the paper towel out of the fridge to find that it had frozen solid! I had to defrost my poor, dead fish! Then, when I could finally open the paper towel up and take Hide out, he'd frozen so stiff that his fins and tail crumbled! I was so upset last night! It was horrible.

Thanks! The pattern I used for the eggs was actually harder than the one I linked to here! I wish I'd known about this when I was decorating those eggs because I might have saved myself a lot of time and glue!

Very nice, I like the one just above and a little to the right of the dark blue one with the yellow pattern. 8D

Ooo, you get the cookie :cookie: for being the first person to notice that... you're the first person to mention it, anyway! Ooo, I think I used three different patterns of paper on the red egg. Thanks!

I'd get them all over. I'm not very coordinated. At all. Especially with little and flimsy things. I've been trying to get my contact lenses in for a long time... and I'm nowhere near getting them even close to my eye. Glue is something else entirely.

I get really messy when I'm working on stuff like this, too! It's a good thing craft glue comes off with water or I'd be stuck to half the things in my house!
